UCPA Bocce Ball League Information

Important Fall 2017 Dates

  • League Registration is currently open and ends on Tuesday, September 12th.

  • Captain’s Meeting – Thursday, September 14th at 6pm

  • League Play is Wednesday, September 20th - Thursday, October 26th.

  • Playoffs will be the week of November 2nd- dates & times TBD


League Format

Teams play for a period of 6 weeks plus one week for playoffs. Games will be timed. In the event a game cannot be played due to any outside reason, a draw will be declared. A team must have at least 4 players in attendance in order not to forfeit unless OK’ed by opposing team. There will be 2 seasons to start UCPA’s bocce league; The Fall season runs from September to November and Spring runs from April to June. As the league populates, the Bocce league will be evaluated and time/date changes may occur.Number of Players on a team: No less than 8 players and no more than 12 players.

Schedule

Teams will play on either a Wednesday night or Thursday night, depending on preference and league assignments. The playing day assigned to your team will stay the same throughout the season. League match schedules will be posted at www.ucpaloalto.com/bocce and on the Bocce Bulletin Board. 

 

Game Times

Games will start immediately at 6:15pm and 7:45pm and will run for 1 ½  hours. Games will be on a 30 minute timer that will need to be adhered to. Each match will consist of three 30 minute games. For each 30 minute game, the first team to 10 points wins. If the time limit is reached before 10 points, the team with the higher score wins the game.


League Fees

The price per person is $65. Includes light appetizers, wine & beer.

How do I sign up for Bocce Ball? 

Forms are available by clicking here and in the Administration office. Please return the forms to the Administration office or via email to Lorraine Sarich at lsarich@ucpaloalto.com


How many players can be on a team?

You must have at least 8 players to start a bocce team and no more than 12. At least 4 players must be in attendance before a match starts in order not to forfeit. Each team must have a Captain.
 

Can I sign up as a single?

Of course! UCPA will work to place you on a team with others or with an incomplete team. Please let us know if you have an interest in being team captain, as one will be picked/decided for each team. 


When and where will the bocce leagues be played? 

Bocce will be played at the 2 courts located near the Tennis Pavilion. Leagues begin on September 20 & 21. League play will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 6:15pm and 7:45pm. A strict time limit of 1 ½ hours per match will be enforced. 



Will there be food and beverage available?

Light appetizers, wine & beer will be provided for members during league play. 



How much does it cost to be in a league? 

$65 per person. The money will go towards prizes, food for the league participants at every match and awards at the end of the season. 

Can children participate in UCPA Bocce Ball League? 

League play is for adults only. 

What is the dress code?

The dress code is casual. Closed-toe and comfortable shoes are recommended. 

What are the deadlines concerning bocce?

Registration for the Fall league ends September 12th. Spring registration information will be available in January 2018.

Can any member play in UCPA Bocce League?

Yes, teams can be made up of any combination of adult members; all men, all women or co-ed, it’s up to you. 

Can guests play in the UCPA Bocce League? 

Yes, they can, if there’s still room! Members have first priority, but we will open up the leagues for any friend or guest of a member who wants to play, as long as there is space available. 

Can I sign up for more than one team?

Yes, you can, but the teams will need to be in separate leagues. Our leagues are Wednesdays and Thursdays, so the limit this season will be two teams.
