Bryden Yemm — Tennis Director. USPTA Certified

Bryden has worked at the University Club since 1988. He is a certified member of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA). Since joining the club all programs have flourished. Under Bryden's guidance the junior program has grown into one of the dominant programs in the area. The Junior Interclub team were champions in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2005. The Junior USTA teams were Northern California Champions in 1989 and 1991, finalists in Northern California in 2002 and mid peninsula champions in 1994. The adult USTA teams have had great success with Bryden's coaching with over 15 Mid Peninsula Champions, 3 regional champions and 2 teams that were State champions that participated in the United States nationals and finished 6th and 2nd.

Bryden has coached since 1978. He coached and ran programs in Melbourne, Australia at the Norm Cahill Tennis Academy in the late 70's and early 80's. In the early 80's he played in Europe were he met his wife, Miriam and moved to the United States. Before joining the University Club Bryden worked at the Almaden Valley Athletic Club (AVAC) which was the United States Tennis Associations tennis club of the year in 1987, and club of the decade for the eighties. At AVAC he worked with all levels of players and over 30 ranked juniors.

Bryden has developed a program that encompasses all ages and levels. Players range from social to collegiate players. The program at the club is one that provides a positive environment to make tennis a life time sport. The goal of the University Club is to strive for a first class tennis operation with a friendly and cooperative staff, a comfortable environment, quality instruction and diversified programs. The club is a home away from home where members can unite with friends in social and athletic endeavors. See you at the courts!

 

Todd Edwards — Head Pro & Director of Juniors Program. USPTA Certified

Todd has worked at the University Club since 2005. He is a certified member of the United States Professional Tennis Association. Todd is the Head Professional and directs all Junior Programs. Todd works with all levels of juniors and adults at the club. Todd runs one the most diverse and foremost junior programs in the area.

Todd played collegiate tennis at the University of Northern Colorado were he received scholarships in basketball, baseball, and tennis. He played #1 singles at Colorado and was a member of the 1996 conference championship tennis team. He won 2 individual singles and three doubles conference championships while attending Northern Colorado. Todd has been ranked in the top 35 open players in Northern California since 2002.

Todd has been teaching tennis full time since 1999. The level of players that he has coached ranges from young children, nationally ranked juniors, division 1 collegiate players, beginner level adults and competitive adult players. From 2002-2005 Todd taught at the Rolling Hills Club in Novato, California and also co-developed community tennis program for under-privileged children. From 2000-2001 Todd was the assistant coach of both the women’s and men’s tennis teams for the University of Northern Colorado. At that time the women’s team was ranked in the top 20 in division 2 nationally.

 

Jennifer Taylor — Tennis Professional. USPTA Certified

Jenny Taylor has been at the University Club of Palo Alto since 1999. Jenny is certified member of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA). She teaches private and group lessons for adults and juniors. Currently she is working with the junior program during the school year. She has been directing the summer camps since 2000 and also works with the summer junior interclub\USTA teams.

Jenny grew up in Indiana and started playing in USTA tournaments when she was 10. In her senior year of high school finished the season 20-4. She then played for Chabot junior college in 89 and 90 where she played singles and doubles. In her second year she was a junior college all American in doubles. She went on to play for San Jose State University where she played 1 singles and doubles.

Jenny has taught tennis to juniors and Almaden Swim and Racquet Club where she worked with the interclub kids as well as coaching the junior girls 15s and 18s USTA teams. She is available for lessons Monday through Saturday.
